A honeymoon meal

It’s been almost two months since one of the best meals of my life and I can’t believe I hadn’t written about it yet.

The restaurant is Cafe des Artistes del Mar located in Punta Mita, Nayarit, Mexico. The occasion was our honeymoon, it was the first night after all our wedding guests left and we had a night to ourselves. We rented a condo right across from the exquisite Hotel Cinco where Cafe des Artistes del Mar is located.

View of the restaurant from the ocean the morning after we dined there. Our table was located right where the umbrellas is.

It was beautiful night and we were seated at the table closest to the shore, about 15 feet away from the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. The website describes it as “avant-garde, a la carte bistro menu focused on seafood.” They use fresh, seasonal ingredients that are creatively crafted into French cuisine. Chef Thierry Blouet is part of an exclusive groups of culinary professionals of French cuisine and was awarded  the rank of Maitre Cuisinier, a prestige association of chefs.

Shortly after settling in, a tuna tartare with papaya ad avocado chilli oil was sent to us from the chef. My new husband and I each ordered from the Bistro menu that allowed us to choose three courses from the chef”s selection. He chose Duck Confit Chilaquillas for an appetizer and a the Mahi Mahi catch of the day. I had a superb Goat Cheese Salad followed by the red snapper as a main. Both entrees came surrounded by brussell sprouts, avocado chickpeas in a light jalapeño mousse, which was left a tangy touch on the tongue.

For dessert my husband had the creme brulée and I had the tiramisu with tamarind sauce.

Our meal was perfected with a bottle of a smooth pinto grigio and a sernade of a trio.
